A little sip of local history

The Dogwood is rich with history like many of the neighboring businesses and buildings. As you enter The Dogwood, you’re stepping into an old miners’ cabin from Irwin, CO that was built in 1891. When you come to visit us, you’ll see the original wood is still intact.

Throughout the years, three different additions were built onto the cabin. It was a family home known as The Bishop House until it was renovated into The Dogwood in 2007.

The newest chapter

Owners Drew (from Flagstaff, AZ) and Sarah Jane (from Colorado/New Jersey, Kentucky) moved to Crested Butte together in 2008 to snowboard after attending Mesa State (now Colorado State University) in Grand Junction, CO.

After living in CB for years, their love of this town expanded into a love of year-round outdoor adventure including rafting and mountain biking, and a love of the community.

They worked in the food and beverage industry, including working at The Dogwood when they were offered the opportunity to take over ownership in 2015. And so, their dream of owning a business together began.

The beauty in evolution

Drew and Sarah Jane have always shared a passion for quality food and creative drinks. Running The Dogwood has inspired the evolution of this passion and has allowed them to set roots in the town and community they love.

The history of the building evolves with them and with every patron who walks into the old cabin.

Come be a part of this history as you sip on fine spirits and share camaraderie in the passion for this town, these lands, and of course a fantastic cocktail.
